Business essentials: Employment Law in Practice
Course Objective
This course is designed to provide an overview of the current employment laws in Mauritius along with the rights of the workers and the duties of an employer further to recent amendments to the law. It will cover:
- The different categories of workers and the different types of contracts of employment that are provided for by the Worker’s Rights Act 2019.
- The general conditions of employment inclusive of entitlement of workers to prescribed benefits.
- The extent to which employers should ensure compliance with the law when proceeding with termination of employment agreements.
- The scope of employment law and how the principles of employment law intersect with and impact the day to day running of a business.
The aim of the course is to address and serve as a refresher on the aspects of employment law such that the attendees become familiar to the legal dimensions of the said areas of law in the conduct of their scope of their duties. Â It will be a blended theoretical and practical course whereby the issues faced by employers shall be the subject of discussion.
